Blade Runner
"Stand By For Mars!"
Blade Runner

Blade Runner Sourcebook
Exists in two versions, the original and the "director's cut." The movie is based on the novel by Philip K. Dick: Do Androids Dream Of Electric Sheep?

An 8-page retelling of the movie is found in Science Fiction Movies (1992) by Andrea Staskowski.

She begins her comments by pointing out that the term "blade runner" is never used in the movie. It comes from a William Burroughs book, entitled Blade Runner: A Movie.

"Blade Runner confronts a basic social issue: what kind of society are we creating? The polluted city in Blade Runner is quite a different future from the sterile space stations of 2001. Unfortunately, the Los Angeles of Blade Runner looks alarmingly familiar, while 2001's spaceship Discovery seems to be a distant fantasy.
