Birds in My Backyard 4/27/06 Thursday Last week's photos: Virginia Living Musueum Norfolk Botanical Garden Mariners Museum On Wednesday, 4/27/06, I sat in my fenced-in backyward for about half an hour. I confess it was a bit too cool for me, 60 degrees and an overcast sky. I was sitting in a deck chair as far away from the bird feeders as possible, but birds flying up over the fence from behind me were frightened away. I could hear the flutter of wings as they came over the fence, realized a Human was there, and flew away again. I hope that in future they'll become acclimated to my presence - or learn to fly in from the other direction! Grackle Red-winded black bird Red-winded black bird. There's more yellow to red in the epaulets. Is it because it's early in the year, or the bird's not eating properly?
