from the West Wing website: While the staff furiously labors over the President's crucial State of the Union speech, Bartlet suddenly demands to include a passage that ambitiously promises a crusade to cure cancer within 10 years while Sam (Rob Lowe) is interviewed for a Vanity Fair profile by a woman (as Lisa, guest star Traylor Howard) whom once was his fiancee. A lovestruck Josh (Bradley Whitford) brashly informs a prominent women's rights leader (guest star Mary Louise Parker, "Fried Green Tomatoes") that her budding romance with a Congressman is solely a product of political machinations. (Baker plays the Congressman. He has about 20 seconds of screen time and no lines!). Elsewhere, a mischievous C.J. (Allison Janney) tries to upset Charlie (Dule Hill) by swiping his top-secret and coded copy of the President's approaching address while pollster Joey Lucas (guest star Marlee Matlin) studies the sampled responses to the Chief Executive's speech. John Spencer, Richard Schiff and Janel Moloney also star.

takeover or staff shakeup, and staff was being fired left, right,
and below the belt, much to Drew's dismay! The takeover/shakeup company had three representatives who met a couple times
with Drew to discuss progress on paring down the staff. Brian is one of the bad guys!

At the suggestion of her therapist, Syd (Melina Kanakaredes) participates in an evening of ''Speed Dating'' while Joanie (Paula Cale) becomes a contestant on the romantic reality show Blind Date hosted by Roger Lodge (appearing as himself) while Phil (guest star Dan Montgomery) babysits Hannah (Tessa Allen) -- and while her date turns out to be the wrong guy, Joanie still has a chance for romance. Robbie (Seth Peterson) sells his skis to buy a new sewing machine for Tina (Maria Pitillo), who sells her own sewing machine to buy ski tickets for Robbie. Meanwhile, Jim (Mike Farrell) makes a new female friend at rehab.
According to a poster, Bakerplays a diabetic speed dater 'who blew Syd's cover as a kayaking hand model when he collapsed and she leapt to the rescue.'
