WITNESS a RE-ENACTMENT of the YORKTOWN TEA PARTY on SUNDAY, November 5, 2006
from 12:30 to 2:30 pm

Journey to the Watermens' Museum in Yorktown from 12:30 pm to 3:30 pm on Sunday, November 5, 2006.

60 people saw the re-enactment in its first year, 2004. 450 saw it in 2005. For this third year, make sure that you are there!

Nine re-enactors, portraying such historical personages as Thomas Nelson, Jr. and Dudley Digges, will re-enact the event.

12:30 to 2:00 pm:

  • Music by the York River Symphony Orchestra
  • Children's program: "A Hospitali Tea" with Martha Washington
  • The sale of Clam Chowder and Fried Fish by The Women of the Water (also tea and scones by Le Petite Tea Shoppe)

    2:00 to 3:30 pm:

  • Introduction by the Fifes & Drums of Yorktown
  • Children's Program: 18th century toys
  • The Re-enactment of the "York Towne Tea Party of 1774"

    Coverage of the event began in The Daily Press on Thursday, November 2, 2006, with a long article in the Local News: York/Poquoson section.

    A full color photo showed five people in period costume rehearsing on the beach in Yorktown. On pg C14 is a b&w photo of a couple of women in period costume.

    This year's cast includes five descendants of the signers of the Declaration of Independence and forty more descendants of signers will be present in the audience.
