A star of sitcoms, her sciene fiction credits include Dr. Mary Albright in Third Rock From The Sun and as Prymat in the Coneheads movie as well as the skits on Saturday Night Live. |

Edmund Gwenn
Edmund Gwenn was born on September 26, 1875 in Wandsworth, London, England and died on September 6, 1959 in Woodland Hills, Los Angeles, the aftermath of a stroke.
In his long career he was only in one science fiction movie, but it was a classic. He played Dr. Harold Medford in Them! (1954). And of course he was Kris Kringle in the classic Miracle on 34th Street, a gentle fantasy.
He also guest-starred on a couple of episodes of Science Fiction Theater:
"A Visit from Dr. Pliny" (1955) as Dr. Pliny
"The Strange Dr. Lorenz" (1955) as Dr. Lorenz

Alex Raymond
Alex Raymond was born on October 2, 1909 in New Rochelle, New York and died on September 6, 1956,Westport, Connecticut, as the result of a car accident.
An artist and writer, he was the creator of the Flash Gordon comic strip, as well as Secret Agent X-9 (with Dashiell Hammett).
He abandoned his creations when he enlisted in the Army during World War II. Upon getting out, he created another comic strip, "Rip Kirby", about a detective/scientist.
There is controversy about Raymond's death. Apparently he had been involved in several single-car accidents prior to the one that killed him. However, he had a passenger in the car on this occasion, and one doubts that he would have tried to kill himself under that circumstance.
