John Hoyt
John Hoyt was boron on October 5, 1905 in Bronxville, New York, and died on September 15, 1991 in Santa Cruz, California, of lung cancer.
In his long career he had a few SF credentials. Most particularly, he was the first choice for the Doctor in Star Trek, playing Dr. Phillip Boyce opposite Jeffrey Hunter as Captain Christopher Pike. (1966)
He played the unfortunate wheelchair bound millionaire Sydney Stanton in When Worlds Collide (who funded the building of the rocket-ship, then was left behind), Mr. Franz in Attack of the Puppet People (1958), two Twilight Zones: Ross in "Will the Real Martian Please Stand Up?" (1961) and Dr. William in "The Lateness of the Hour".
He played Dr. Varno in The Time Travelers (1964), The Outer Limits:.... Professor Hebbel in "I, Robot" (1964), the 'Bifrost' Alien in "The Bellero Shield" (1964)and Emmett Balfour in "Don't Open Till Doomsday" (1964).
And in The Time Tunnel, Dr. Steinholtz in "The Ghost of Nero" (1967)and The Alien Leader in "Visitors from Beyond the Stars" (1967).
