He is an author, the creator of NUMA agent Dirk Pitt. He wrote two books featuring that character before the "breakout" book, Raise the Titanic, made his fortune.
Cussler's books are "techno-thrillers" rather than science fiction, but there are science fiction elements in many of them. |
