The giant squid destroying Golden Gate Bridge
It Came From Beneath the Sea (1955) was written by the same scriptwriters who gave us Them! However, while the horror horde consisted of mechanical ants built large, the tentacles of the maruading giant squid were created by the young stop-motion master Ray Harryhausen.

Harryhausen had now moved into the big time, after working with his mentor Willis O'Brien on Mighty Joe Young (1949), and then bringing to life the Rhedosaurus in The Beast From 20,000 Fathoms (1953).
